PUBLIC LECTURE ON
EL DIA DE LOS MUERTOS

Featuring Sonya and Rudolph Alvarado, coauthors of Mexicans and Mexican Americans in Michigan. Rudolph Alvarado is the CEO and publisher of Caballo Press of Ann Arbor. He is author of the award-winning bilingual children’s book Perla Garcia and the Mystery of La Llorona, The Weeping Woman (copies of which will be provided free-of-charge at the lecture). Sonya Alvarado is a staff representative for the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) Michigan and a lecturer in the Department of English, Language, and Literature at Eastern Michigan University. OFRENDA EXHIBIT

Individuals and organizations are invited to publicly present their own ofrendas to honor deceased loved ones, to recognize historically significant figures, or to raise awareness about a particular social issue.
THRILLER PERFOMANCE
Albion College Quadrangle
October 31, 6:30 PM
(end of Spooktacular)
A live performance of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" featuring giant puppets (mojigangas) and involving residents of the greater Albion community. The show will open with a zombie-themed acapella number from the Briton singers. Then, our Thriller dancers will saunter onto the green, where they will perform for the remaining trick-or-treaters.

OFRENDA WORKSHOP

Join us at the Umbrella House (1107 E. Cass St.) following the public lecture to learn more about what the ofrenda is and how to make your own. If you want to make an ofrenda but can't attend the workshop, contact us and check out our ofrenda how-to guide below.

THRILLER RUN-THROUGH

Forgot the choreography? Don't worry, you're not alone. We will have an OPTIONAL 30-minute run-through. Meeting on the steps of Kresge gym, we will review the choreography, and go over call times, cues, and entrances.
